I do think it’s important to know your own numbers not just the absolute number in terms of risk of recurrence as well as the relative numbers of what percentage benefit on that the AIs or Tamoxifen would help.
So my risk of recurrence after radiotherapy is 1-2% (also tubular, grade 1, stage 1, ER8/8 & PR 8/8)
They offered me radiotherapy but didn’t necessarily recommend as it had to be my decision as the improvement was small. Because I wanted to stay on HRT I opted for the radiotherapy as it reduced my risk from 3-4% to 1-2%.
Anyway, I digress slightly. My percentage benefit on Tamoxifen was 0.1% according to Predict Test V3 so I was shocked that they just told me to take it.
Thankfully I didn’t but I didn’t find this out until later.
Neither Tamoxifen or AIs come without risks so are not to be taken lightly either, as some side effects are irreversible.
For me, I chose quality of life but then that’s easier to say with the low risk I have. The NHS menopause clinic were happy to write to my GP to continue prescribing my HRT which I want to continue for the long term health benefits for my bones and to help prevent heart disease and dementia.
There is quite a good thread on here somewhere also about refusing AIs if you have a search through
