Best Electric Shaver for Women with Breast Cancer, Guide to choose

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of finding the best electric shaver for women and would love to hear from others who are navigating life after breast cancer treatments such as chemotherapy or radiation. Since these treatments can leave skin feeling more sensitive, I am particularly looking for a shaver that is gentle, effective, and comfortable for daily use.

I have read expert reviews from different trusted sources of Good Housekeeping, Wirecutter and Consumer reports and these two models that have received great reviews. But I would really appreciate any feedback from those of you who may have experience using them, especially if you have sensitive skin or have used an electric shaver post-cancer treatment.

Here are the two shavers I’m considering:

1. Philips Norelco Shaver Wet and Dry Electric Shaver
https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Rechargeable-S3341-92/dp/B0CLX1573H?th=1

2. Braun Epilator Silk-épil 7 Women’s Electric Shaver
https://www.amazon.com/Braun-Epilator-Silk-%C3%A9pil-Removal-SE7-041/dp/B0CWJF37L8
What I’m looking for:

  • Gentle on sensitive skin post-cancer treatment: After chemotherapy or radiation, skin can become dry and prone to irritation, so I’m looking for a shaver that minimizes these effects.
  • Close shave: I still want a close shave but without the discomfort of razor burn or ingrown hairs.
  • Wet or dry use: I’d prefer something I can use in the shower for convenience, as I often feel more comfortable doing that post-treatment.
  • Comfort and ease of use: Since I’m recovering, I need something easy to handle and comfortable to use, even if my strength or coordination is not what it used to be.

If anyone has used either of these models or has any other recommendations for electric shavers that are gentle yet effective for sensitive skin, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Any advice on which one would be better suited for post-cancer recovery or tips for using an electric shaver more comfortably during this time would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks so much for your help!

I have always had mine waxed .
They are getting less every time.
After 25 yrs I’m still numb in the arm pit .
I did have 10 lymph nodes removed.

Hello elsa234

Thank you for posting.

Navigating life after breast cancer treatments can be challenging as you get to know your body again and respond to changes in the texture and sensitivity of your skin.

If you have had surgery or radiotherapy to the lymph nodes under your arm, you may be more at risk of developing lymphoedema. Some people like @lyndy61 prefer waxing but an electric razor or a hair removal cream are also safe and less likely to damage the skin than other methods. Although we cannot recommend a particular razor it is important to find one that is gentle and will not damage your skin.
