Have l got a seroma, or lymphoedema?

Hi Sim2
No the antibiotics didn’t help, as it was as l suspected a seroma and not an infection. I did have it drained twice on the 21st of January and then again on the 4th of February. Both times it refilled within 24 hours. This was the last time it was drained as the BCNs and my surgeon were concerned about the risk of infection. This did impact on my radiotherapy, but l did eventually start it for 5 days on the 7th of April. I was very careful not to do too much that might aggravate it prior to radiotherapy, as l was getting concerned by the delay. Since finishing l have been doing more and it has increased in size again, but no where near as much as before. It’s something l’m learning to live with, as l also have breast edema. The BCNs have said unfortunately this is quite common when the lymphatic system is disrupted - l had 18 nodes removed, so there was a fair amount of trauma and it may take several months to fully resolve. I hope yours settles down it is quite debilitating, as although mine, at least, wasn"t painful, it was uncomfortable and still is to some degree. However, when l’m feeling a little sorry for myself l remind myself that they were successful in removing the cancer and l’ve had my radiotherapy and l’m taking letrozole. Everything’s been done to give me the best chance of not having a recurrence and that’s what we all hope for xxx
