May 2026 chemo starters

Oh @elastigirl - how utterly lovely that you could get to see your boy play with his band! And that the Theatre bent over backwards to make it special for you! I bet your son is as proud of you as you are of him! The very best of good fortune with his musical career. Not easy, the music business.

Pac. I HATE Pac. Yes, me too, suffering big time on it, and I’ m sorry to say it doesn’t improve the nearer it gets to the finishing-line, so there’s no point sugar coating the pill or overwhelming anyone with Toxic Positivity. It’s TOUGH. I think a lot of us are feeling/have felt the same on Pac. EC was awful, but at least there were a few reasonable days of almost-normality over the three weeks. Weekly Pac gives you no such remission does it? If your neutrophils are very low you’ ll be even more vulnerable, so the filgrastim is vital, even though it’s proving a pig ( which is very unfair to pigs ). I was lucky on it, never got any side effects apart from a sort of woozy, about to pass out feeling after the first one of each 5 day cycle. My neutrophils are dropping but they were still at 3.7 last week, so I’ m hoping they behave. More chocolate - which I dislike - on the menu.

The trouble with your port sounds like just one more insult to add to injury. Are you getting another week ‘off’ to get things back on a more even keel?

Yesterday and Friday I thought I was at death’s door! I wasn’t, of course, but it felt that way. Absolutely on my nose end, hungry but no energy or appetite to make anything to eat, food tastes vile, exhausted, practically unable to move from my chair or bed. Post viral cough still a constant pest after 10 weeks, which adds to the tiredness. A slight ‘ bounce back’ today, just in time for the bloods fiasco tomorrow. I know ‘they’ advocate a 15 minute walk, but that’s not happening! WALK? I can barely make it to the loo!

Sorry, @elastigirl , here you are, asking for some happy positive thoughts, and here’s me, dripping with gloom! Must Try Harder, as my school reports used to say :rofl::rofl:

Good news is today I do feel slightly more ‘normal’ and I hope we ALL do!

Lots of love
