Hey Linda,
I’m just outside of Calgary.
I agree that Britain is ahead of us in many areas of cancer treatment.
I’m not on any meds. I had architectural distortion with lobular and ductal non-invasive cancer. Had a lumpectomy and thought radiation would be short and done quickly. I only had 5 sessions but the fallout was dreadful. I still can’t fathom why radiation has been so difficult but the oncologist said it’s normal.
There is virtually no info on radiation and long term effects.
I am getting better because it used to hit me at 2pm. Now I can go longer without nausea or exhaustion. Oncologist told me to count the months from diagnosis to end of treatment and that’s how long you can expect recovery to take. Mine was 6 months to the end of radiation but I’m now in 7th month. If it wasn’t getting better, I’d be losing my mind with worry. It’s just too slow for my liking.
I still have some pain in my breast so I booked a mammogram for April 1. I’m hoping that it will be clear and I can move forward with feeling better. When I’m feeling poorly, I think the worst!
Be prepared for the fatigue to hit you after you’re all finished. Or maybe you’ll be just fine and have no effects.
If you need support from me I’m happy to talk to you via email or the phone. Do you have support? And how is your care team?
Let me know if I can help in any way.
Sue
