Scar tissue pain

Hi ladies
In July 2024 I had a lumpectomy and Diep flap reconstruction (skin taken from rib area).

I had a few issues with recovery such as leakage, infections but that all cleared up over time.

March 2025 I had 15 radiotherapy sessions. My breast beforehand was misshapened and I had the odd shooty pain. After radio, scar tissue made an appearance on my breast, it has a big indent, like the skin has been sucked in.

This scar tissue area is painful to touch and I’m always accidentally catching it.

This has been checked out by my surgeon, nothing can be done as the area is too small, I’ll just have to live with it.

I work as a TA in a great school with 5/6 year olds and as lovely as they are, they don’t seem to get ‘personal space’! I’ve been poked in the boob but my greatest fear is having something thrown at me or being hurt by a child (I’m in a standard state school and this behaviour is very common).

I need to find some sort of protection for my breast, I can only wear non-wired bras and they are padded but not padded enough.

Has anyone got any ideas on what I can use to protect my delicate boob.

Sorry for rambling. Xx

Maybe a high support sports bra could work? Not the supermarket ones, but ones made for running etc so designed to hold everything in place? I wore a Nike zip front one after lumpectomy last year and it fit snugly, padded so felt protective and super comfortable. I wear Under Armour ones for the gym which are moulded and would probably feel protective too. x

I wonder if a chest protector from a contact sport like karate might be what you are looking for. They look like a sports bra but are designed to take impacts such as kicks and punches.
I Googled football chest protector (as that’s what I first thought of) and found several different designs including one for karate.

Never worn one myself so I don’t know how comfortable they are
