Waiting for results scared

First time posting, no idea if this is the right section!
I was diagnosed in July - I’ve got invasive lobular cancer, pr/er+ and her2- I’ve had a mastectomy but results show it’s in 3 of my nodes so now need auxiliary node clearance. I also have had a ct scan and am waiting for results - I’m so scared it’s already spread……I can’t bear the waiting, and while you’re waiting it’s spreading….everytime I go for results the news gets worse….
I was positive even after surgery but now it’s in my nodes and I’ve had a ct im so worried.

Deep breaths. Surgery often chucks up extra things you wouldn’t want. Scans have their limitations. As you say it was found in 3 nodes, that suggests 3 nodes were removed, these were possibly because visually they looked suspicious. There is still every chance that the rest of your nodes will be negative, in which case its already all gone for now and not multiplying. You have had a mastectomy so margins are not an issue. The CT is a standard thing to do, but it must be so worrying till results are known, I get that. Nothing will stop the worry until you get results, but meantime to help deal with it, do anything that distracts you. See friends, stay off google, keep up with life around. Good luck with results, whatever they are, we are all here for support.

Waiting for results is awful, but try to distract yourself and not dwell on it too much (easier said, than done, I know). I had bilateral lumpectomies, and the sentinel nodes plus a few other nodes were removed. However, they found cancer in four of the removed nodes, so I had to have my chemo, then return for further surgery, when I had full axillary lymph node clearance. The biopsy showed that two further lymph nodes had cancer (a total of 6 out of 20), so I was sent for a CT scan. The wait for results was agonising, but the scan was clear. I just wanted to explain my situation, that I had those cancerous lymph nodes sitting there throughout my chemo, but my CT was clear after surgery. I hope that yours is too - and that you get your results back quickly x

Agree, waiting for results IS awful, nothing less. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this. I can tell you I had mastectomy, was told not in lymph nodes but then it apparently was, had CT scan which showed no spread and lymph nodes removal after that. But other people’s experiences don’t matter because they’re not yours and are all different. One day at a time, if at all possible.
