1 swollen breast

Last Wednesday my left breast felt a little hard like right behind the nipple, I’ve noticed this before when due on but this time it seemed more obvious- enough to make me decide to go to the doctors. On Thursday I called for an appointment but couldn’t get one until the following week so they said to call early on Friday morning at this point my left breast was a little swollen. I had a blood test anyway on Monday morning so decided to leave it until then & mention it to the nurse. Over the weekend my left breast got noticeably bigger.

So I had my blood test & told the nurse & she got me an appointment with the GP the same morning. Doc checked my breasts and said there wasn’t a lump, however because I’m on my period I have to wait to see if the swelling goes down. I don’t really have other symptoms though the breast is achy if I don’t have a bra on. I am terrified. Obviously I’ve googled which was a bad idea & I can’t get it off my mind because I’m so aware of the fact my 1 breast is bigger.

Another thing is I’ve had several blood tests because my liver enzymes are raised (or something) & the doctor doesn’t know why. Last time I got results the number had gone down to borderline & the blood test I had on Monday was to check it again after 1 month. I’m scared that the 2 things are connected & it’s something really bad (thank you google). Yesterday the doctor’s called to ask me to go in this Friday - this was 1 day after the blood test so I don’t know if it’s that or if it’s because my period has ended.

I don’t really know what I’m here to ask, just had to get this out. I don’t really have anyone I can talk to right now & lost my dad at the end of last year so I don’t want to worry my sister by telling her - she’s the only real family I have.

Hi Lux,

Well, that’s what the forum is for, to get it all out! So do come & chat whenever you want to.

Yes, you are right about google, it really is best avoided at the mo, as it only feeds anxiety, does nothing to reassure & changes nothing.

See what your GP says, but it’s usual practice to refer to the breast clinic to get to the bottom of it. There are many reasons for the breast symptoms you have & mostly it turns out to be a benign reason for it.

The issue with the blood test maybe just a coincidence.

If you want to, do let us know how you get on & sorry to hear about your dad.
