10 years on anastrozole

I’ve had my annual check up ( relieved to have that over ) and have been told that women who had stage 3 cancers are now being offered anastrozole for 10 years. I’m pleased despite the side effects. The debate is whether annual mammograms will continue for me.

Has anyone else had their time on anastrozole increased and what is happening about your mammograms?

Anastrozole was a relatively new drug when I began taking it 10 years ago. My oncologist suggested at the time that because I was, ‘high risk’ (node positive, grade 3), I might benefit from taking it longer. At my latest review he was happy for me to continue and also continue with annual mammograms, though there was a quiet suggestion I might want to stop annual mammo’s and revert to 3yrly NHS screening.Err… no. He does like me to have regular DEXA scans to ensure my osteopenia remains stable.
