Gardens are lovely and coming out of winter glimpsing signs of Spring is a beautiful feeling. Thank you both xx
Ladybowler it’s the little things isn’t it? I don’t have a garden as I live in a first floor flat but opened my window this morning with sounds of the river running under my window and.birds and sun…these small moments of joy…x
How lovely it’s looks…I love water. How do you put pictures on here? X
Lovely to live right by the water Helena! We are surrounded by fields but have to walk down the lane to get to the river.
Treeze click on the mountain icon above the reply box and it will give you options for putting a picture on.
X Jak
Thank you x
Hi all
i didn’t notice the winter warmers had a moving on thread!!
Moving on is certainly an interesting concept and one I’m still trying to get to grips with. I’m definitely getting stronger week by week but mentally some days it all feels like such a lot of effort. My counsellor said my perspective on things would change and some days I think she’s right. Ive never wanted a quiet stress free life quite so much in my life!!! Any ways…
hope all you ladies are having a relaxing afternoon
Lee - your camping trip sounds idyllic!!
xxx
Hi Guys!
Greetings from Napier, North Island New Zealand. And I remembered my password, result.
I’ve just scanned the last couple of pages and I’m glad those of you that are ok are good, and hugs for Lee and Sue. I’m really good, and I’m really pleased to say I’m coping well with what is a hectic touring schedule, booked before I had any of the BC issues. NZ is a stunning country, the people are lovely and the sheep are really tasty, actually I’m reconnecting with my inner carnivore.
Sending big hugs to you Sue, family stuff can be bad enough at the best of times but with everything else going on it just is too much. My younger girl hardly spoke to me when I was going through the diagnostic bit, when we found out I wouldn’t have to have chemo and the prognosis was good she told me she just couldn’t stop crying for a couple of days and now she is just fine. She was 27 but I think it was the first she had had to deal with something truely difficult that didn’t involve men, clothes or finances. Bless!
Sorry Tamoxifen hasn’t worked out for you Lee but I’m sure they will come up with some other option. Big hugs, which I could deliver in person if you are anywhere near Melbourne at the end of the month.
Dizzy spells? Yup I had a few during and after the RT, they seem mostly to have gone now. Although walking up some of the big hills round here is making me very hot.
Glad you are with us Beth, big hugs Dizzy, Jak and Helena, I love the fact you rush round Helena - so do I, I can’t help it.
Must go OH is ready for dinner. Soooooo much love to you all.
Gillx
Gill thank you so much for the wishes and hugs. NZ is lovely, my mum is a Kiwi and we’ve had great holidays there. Nope nowhere near Melbourne but am sure you will love it there too xx
Hi Gill
Oh, I am so envious, I’ve always wanted to go to New Zealand. It’s one of the things that’s waiting till my husband is retired, there’s no point in going all that way if you’re squeezed for time. I’m glad you’re able to do everything you want without any side effects from treatment. I think I’m pretty much back to normal barring sleeping longer, which is a plus.
Lee, glad your camping trip went well, I’m struggling to imagine it being warm enough to be in the sea. Though the sun is finally out here at the moment, which is a novelty…So I’ll be taking my dog out soon, and making the most of it.
Afternoon ladies,
After much searching I have just booked our summer holiday in Anglesey! Love Wales but have never been over to Anglesey. Managed to find a bungalow/chalet (cottages all gone or far too expensive) with seaviews in a fairly unpopulated area about 30 mins walk from coast. We always have to go during school holidays and always forget to book early enough - this time I had other things on my mind! Anyway it’s good to have something to look forward to. xx Jak
That’s a good reminder Jak, we’re meant to be booking a cottage somewhere for the beginning of July, and we need to get on with it. Starting with deciding where to go…
I haven’t seen much of Anglesey, but enjoyed the castle.
Hi All,
Lovely to read how you are all getting on.
It’s been really wet here in Napier today so the OH and I have been doing the art deco trail in the rain, although it’s not cold. We are staying in a lovely art deco hotel used by the Queen and P Phillip during the coronation tour in 1953, although the OH didn’t run to the Royal Suite and the breakfasts here are so expensive we had a picnic in our room. The original town was flattened in an earthquake in 1931 and was totally rebuilt in art deco style.
Jak, so exciting, we’ve seen Mount Doom, the Plains of Gorgoroth and the horrid black volcanic place where the spider skitters about in the movies. We also so walked up in ‘Ithilien’ is that where the elves hang out? It was beautuful with stunning waterfalls. Not seen a single hobbit tho. Awesome (it’s a catch phrase round here).
Over the next few days we are moving on to the South Island with big drives to do so probably won’t have time to catch up with you, but I’m always thinking of you all. So glad the weather is cheering up at bit for you and your minds are turning to thoughts of holidays.
Lots of love, Gillx
Thanks Dizzy it was good to get out and do something ‘normal’. Xx
Afternoon ladies,
Gillie - I so want to be there!! and Lee!!
I may get an impromptu overnight stay in Derbyshire. My H has to collect some sheep and if his colleague can’t make it I get to go. Be so good to go somewhere nobody knows.
x Jak
So Jak, did you get to travel with the sheep? Hope you saw a bit of the Peak District if so.
Thanks Jak. Is that because you are post menopausal or is that another type of hormone therapy you can take when you still have periods? It may have even been Claire, I confuse myself going between this thread and Progesterone thread. You’re right I can get other opinions. Will look into that. Xx
Yep, I was advised to avoid my left side fit blood pressure and bloods as I had a couple of lymph nodes taken too. Interesting about depression and aches because both were kicking it. September 2015 I had surgery for advanced endometriosis and removal of a cyst on my left ovary (there was a cancer scare because of an elevated CA125 blood test). It was okay though (same side of the body As breast cancer). Based on that I guess I will have regular scans too.
Thanks Helena, it is a magical spot. I’ve never seen the snow though my family go every year or so to visit the in laws and ski. Thanks too for your thoughts/feelings on Tamo. My concern is for my other boob so I hope I can help protect it. Xx
Afternoon Ladies,
Just posted on another thread re Anastrozole and insomnia. Anyone on here suffering? I’ve been slowly going up all week and today have crashed (up in the night which used to happen about once or twice a month before diagnosis). So need your encouragement today ladies. I was even considering getting the car out as H is away but not today it would seem. Also - why is it people phone to talk about going out on bad days? Sorry to be dismal just need to say it!
Have promised D2 that I will go with her to welcome the new sheep this weekend. Looking forward to it.
x Jak
PS I’d forgotten about tests etc only on good side - how long does that go on for?
Jak, I thought it was forever. There is an information leaflet on the BCC main site about preventing lymphoedema, I would post a link but it’s beyond my technical abilities!
Helena, I agree with you about the Tamoxifen, it’s one of the few things that is under our control to help to prevent a new cancer. I thought that I didn’t want to take it, but when they were going to take me off it and have no hormone drug, I was a bit panicky. So I’m glad we managed to arrive at a compromise.
I was talking to someone in my walking group yesterday who had BC fifteen years ago, and a new cancer in the other breast last year. Luckily it hadn’t spread, so her prognosis is good, but she’s spent so much of her life on this. She’s still having problems with the reconstruction from the first cancer, and about to have her first mammogram after the second.
She was quite resigned about it all, but I really don’t want to be there, so I have made new resolutions about a healthy lifestyle, though cutting down on the wine won’t be easy!
