Is this ok?? I just haven’t felt sick so i thought why add more drugs to the mix?? Started taking vitamins as well as advised by a breast Cancer cure and Prevention diet book just to support my immune system etc but my main concern i guess is these damn sickness drugs - i can opt out can’t i if i don’t feel sick??
Yay you!
If you don’t need them then I’m sure there’s no need to take them.
Wish I’d been as lucky, I just feel glad that I’ve only had nausea & not been vomiting
Hope it continues to go as well, Rebecca
I’m quite concerned though - had no sickness and immense hunger!!! Put on a few pounds in fact and apart form a rank taste in my mouth - sipping Baileys helps
- I just feel tired but trying to refrain from overeating, hate taking unecessary extra pills if i don’t need them but i guess i should check…
Waiting for the hair ytp come out - praying i’ll be the lucky one although let the hubby loose on my hair with some blunt scissors last night and asked him to ‘do it short & choppy’ and he certainly did that! Maybe not so bad losing it now…
Hi Lolabelle - So glad to hear that you are feeling fine at the moment. I am sure we all understand that wish not to take any unecessary medication. Only word of caution I might say was a conversation I had with the community nurse when I was on FEC and we were talking about the anti nauseau injections that can be given if necessary. I asked if many people needed them and her response was that usually it was only if they had not taken the anti nausea medication they were given to take straight after the FEC. That sounds like a bit of a dampner, and I don’t mean it to be. Why don’t you give the chemo unit a call and see what they say. You were probably given some anti nausea medication in the chemo unit, and are you having steroids still - they tend to make you a bit hungrier. How long ago was your FEC? - If it was a while then it sounds as though you were fine without the anti nausea meds (they are usually only for two or three days after). Best of luck and hope you keep feeling so well - it is different for all of us. Sarah
Hi
Great that you’re feeling so well. I’d check with your onc about taking vitamins whilst on chemo as when I asked if it was OK, he said yes but after chemo has finished as vitamins boost your cells but you don’t want them boosting your bad cells whilst the chemo is trying to do it’s job. He said to me i was ok to go back on them and support my immune system once chemo was finished. Carrie
Long may it last! The steroids are anti nausea and make you very hungry, have you had them? They are usually taken before chemo.
Valx
When I had FEC I had dexamethasone (a steroid) in the IV line before the chemo drugs, and then for 3 days after, along with anti nausea meds. You must really take them as they stop you vomiting. I still felt nauseous, but did not vomit. It’s only for 3 days, and I don’t think the doctor would prescribe them if not necessary.
Liz.
Lolabelle,
Hello there,
Ive just had FEC number 4, I would strongly advise you to take your anti sickness meds for those first few days after chemo, from what the BC nurses . chemo unit nurses and Drs advise, its harder to stop vomiting once it starts if the meds arent taken, which is why they are prescribed. I like you hate the idea of this cocktail of drugs too , I have felt nauseous for 3-4 days each cycle, and vomited once during cycle 2 for some reason.
See how you go, ginger is very good for anti nausea .
lol Julie xx
Julie, in what form do you find ginger most effective? Biscuits (yum), ginger cake, root - nibbled whole, grated or whatever (hmm), ginger ale (burp)… not Stones Ginger Wine by any chance (she says hopefully)?
Lyn
hi ,
biscuits to nibble on, ginger aromatherapy oil in bath or burner, a piece of real ginger root in a cup of hot water with lemon and honey, ginger beer to sip on,
ginger and lemon herbal teas,
all of your list
xx
