21 years old and having to wait 6 + weeks for referral appointment

Hey all, I was at the doctors about 2 weeks ago and she found a lump on my right breast and she has referred me to the breast screening clinic.
I’m from Northern Ireland and I got a letter today telling me that I have been referred and I have to wait approx 6 weeks u till I receive word of my appointment

Did anyone else have to wait this long? It seems a very long time to wait as I know the urgent referrals are two weeks. My mum had breast cancer four years ago aswell. Also she wasn’t urgent and she only have to wait about 3/4 weeks

I know other people have really hard stuff to deal with right now but I’m just looking some advice as I’m going to be worried sick these 6 weeks

As I understand if you find a lump and are referred to the breast clinic its a 2 week fast track waiting time no matter what your age but with also having a blood relative with a breast cancer diagnosis any waiting time is a long time. It might be different in Northern Ireland. If you feel you should been seen sooner go back and ask why you have to wait six weeks. I wish you all the best and your mum. It must be a very worrying time for you both.
