33 no children with hormone receptive cancer

Hey there, so it’s not quite been 2 months since I was diagnosed but I’ve already undergone cycle one of my chemo
I haven’t had any fertility treatment to persevere eggs I’ve had the injection to send my ovaries to sleep as this was the only sensible choice I had as harvesting eggs could have set my grade 3 tumour a light.

But through all of this I get married next December and I want children one day more than anything. I find it’s tough knowing you have breast cancer but knowing that you may struggle to have children when you are early 30’a and don’t have children ruins me
Any advice welcome

Hi Sarah Jane

I am sorry that you havent had any replies yet, hopefully someone will be along soon to offer you their experience.  I do know of many women who have undergone chemo and treatment in their 20’s and 30’s who have subsequently gone on to have children.

If it would help you to talk to someone, please do give our free Helpline a call, 0808 800 6000.

Best wishes

Hi Sarah jane

I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and your concerns about fertility.

I wanted to let you know some of our volunteers have been in a similar position, having had a diagnosis and then had children after their treatment (including chemotherapy).

If you’d like to speak to any of them, you can email someonelikeme@breastcancercare.org.uk with you name and number and we’ll arrange this for you.

All the best (and congratulations of your upcoming marriage!)
