i found out before xmas that i have breast cancer i go in for op monday but this past week or so ive been in a fair bit of pain more so when im lay down. ive also found out that ive got an overactive thyroid. looking for someone to chat too
Hi rieswans, so sorry you have this horrid dx. I hope you will find the forum a good source of help and support. I am.43 and was dx with IDC on Friday 13th July 2012! Two weeks before that I was dx with an overactive thyroid. I believe it is pretty rare to have an overactive thyroid and BC and to get BC under the age of 45 is not common either - so we are rare and special ladies and part of a small and exclusive club! I have been trying to find out info on the wibbly wobbly Web about any link between the two conditions. Most of what I have read implies a low risk for BC with an underactive thyroid but little info on an overactive e thyroid (which is less common anyway). I have had chemo first as thyroid still raging out of control when initially dx with BC (told high risk of thyroid storm if I had any op). Was on 40mg of Carbizamole but now reduced to 15mg daily. My original Tsh level back in July was 41, it is now hovering at 11 or so and now stable enough hopefully for surgery, had last chemo 7/12 and will probably have surgery end Jan followed by radiotherapy. so would be good to chat if you would like to and happy if you prefer to send me a private message. ive had my op on monday i go and see my support worker friday to have the bandages removed and i can ask her then what my next step is as i dont really know what happens next im on tablets for my overactive thyroid and go back next month for more blood test
