86 year old Mother - Tamoxifen

Hi
My 86 year old Mum had mastectomy and lymph node removal last week and came home today.

Her follow-up appointment is on Friday where we expect them to discuss/start drug therapy.

Tamoxifen is the likely drug required but are there alternatives or pros/cons between that and the alternatives?

She doesn’t really want to put on weight as she has high blood pressure.

Thanks

Hi Gill,
Glad to hear your Mum has come through her surgery so well. A lady I know in her 80s has just gone onto Tamoxifen and is doing really well with it - when I tried to compare side effects she said she had none!

Don’t be afraid to express you concerns to the oncologist, I’m sure they’ll take account fo other health issues.

Take care.
