I would be interested to hear from any one who has had their original implant replaced due to encapsulation and had their ‘good boob’ lifted to match the ‘implanted’ boob. Are you happy that you now have a matching and balanced pair? Do you look good both in a bra and without one.
I don’t want to have any surgery on my ‘good’ boob unless it really does mean that I will have a (relatively) matching pair once more. I am not particularly big-busted so the imbalance is probably not too bad compared to having big boobs, but if it can be better than maybe it is worth having it done.
If you have had a nipple on your implanted side how good does it look compared to your other side?
Or should I leave my ‘good’ boob alone?
Many thanks for your experiences.
There must be somebody out there who can tell me of their experience please!
Bumping for you Mazzalou xxx
Thanks Nannabarb - it that a photo of you with your grandchild hence your name of Nannabarb?
Thinking that I might decide on being Grandmaz when my grandchild is born!
Hi Mazzalou,
My experience is not the same as yours, but might help. I had lumpectomy and rads in 1991. I was 31. As I got older, my good side grew but the irradiated one did not. Finally, when I was in my mid-forties, my daughter saw me without clothes and laughed at me. I went to see the BCN and was offered a prosthesis to wear over my breast, but found it heavy and uncomfortable. I also felt very self conscious.
I had an uplift (bad side) and reduction (good side, approximately 50% of what was there) in 2006. I was terrified, but it wasn’t as bad as I had feared, and the results were excellent. I look reasonably good both with and without clothes. I have a lot of scars, but they faded with time and the uplift scar is on the underside of your breast so not particularly noticeable.
Hope this helps,
Margaret
Thanks Margaret.
I spoke to my BCN this morning and I we decided that I would wait and see what my boob looks like after I have had my implant replaced as I am going to have a slightly larger and softer one this time. I have lost 1/2 stone but would like to shift another stone and a half which means that it would be better to wait until I achieve this and then go for a better match.
As far as my unit is concerned there is all the time in the world and no time limits on what I can get done in the future. I see that you were 15 years down the line when you had your ‘match’ done. As we grow older our body shape changes and our boobs tend to sag so a match today may not be a good match a few years down the line.
I have made my decision but I would still like to hear from others who have a ‘matching pair’ please.

Glad you have managed to come to some sort of a decision, and pleased no one is rushing you into things. If you are losing weight, I would definitely hold fire a bit. You might need to wait a bit longer, but at least you should get your matching pair eventually. Wishing you all the best.
Margaret
