Hi Laura

I don’t know about lung or breast surgery, but I am sure others on here have gone on to have a mastectomy and reconstruction with secondaries. I have had surgery on my hip/leg. I have bone and liver secondaries and had a proximal femur replacement earlier this year. I was offered the surgery to prevent my leg fracturing, but I was glad to have so much cancer removed, as that was my most extensive area of mestastises. I was given radiotherapy afterwards ‘to mop up any stray cancer cells that may have been dislodged after surgery.’

I think being offered an op sounds positive!

Good Luck if it goes ahead.

I have bone mets, diagnosed last year just after my primary breast cancer. I went on to have chemo and then lumpectomy and now radiotherapy. On hormone therapy and zometa too.

I also have friend who, following a MX went on to be dx with bone mets. She had to have major surgery to the spine following a tumour on her vertebrae which made it collapse. She is currently in hospital having reconstruction!!

I guess it may depend on your Onc and PCT?/?
