A really, no REALLY, good book…
A really, no REALLY, good book… Hi everyone,
I have just read a fabulous book, which I thought deserved being shared with others. Yes, it is another of those “mind over matter” books, but with a difference. This one is written by a real-life surgeon, based on his experience with many cancer patients. He does not advocate alternative over conventional or vice-versa, nor does he offer any “miracle cure” approach. However, he does stress the importance that self-belief among other things, has over healing and coping with a disease like cancer.
In short, it combines the rational approach, with the spiritual one. It’s really something you may want to read, whatever stage you’re at.
Here’s the title: “Love, Medicine and Miracles” by Bernie Siegel

Hope it helps you too.

Thank you for that, Fish Tail.
There are so many books out there, that sometimes you don’t know where to begin. This sounds like a balanced one.

I found this book really helpful I think that the author has gained great insights from REALLY listening to his patients. The book, and re-reading it, especially the part about how anyone can become an exceptional patient and also about acceptance and healing, I’m sure changed my psychological outlook and made it easier to cope and to exercise the limited choices we have as we go through treatment and beyond. I discovered that experiencing wellbeing was a genuine option even at times when I felt rough or weary of it all.
Thanks, Fishtail/ P for reminding me - I’m going to dip into it again. It’s also well written, which helps.
Wishing you well,
Jenny
p.s. It’s been around a long time so I guess there’ll be some cheap second hand copies out there too - try Amazon for instance.
