millymolly , i haven’t really posted much on this forum or the mac forum but have found great strength from reading other ladies posts and advive and i know that you will too xxx how did you find slimming world ? i used the the slimming world recipes from the daily mirror last week and found them to taste really nice so now i’m debating wether to join a local class or not.
thankyou janice, it is a bit sh*te at times isn’t it , but hey onwards and upwards eh xx
Half a pound this week, but can I keep it off? Tune into the next episode of “Cherub on a Diet” lol.
Haven’t renewed the gym member shipeither as I can’t really justify what it’s costing both of us - I’d rather have the dough for the next holiday fund. I have invested in a Wii Fit Plus and it’s getting delivered on Thursday. Yippee, I hope it’s fun
Cherub you will love the Wii I use mine daily now that my fitness levels are a bit better after chemo/rads etc and you can see your progress as it saves all your exercise regimes etc and it also has some real good fun exercise’s as well like hoola hoop and steps to rythm/music , good luck hun it will really help you and you can stay in the warm too so double whammy

Hi Stell,
Slimming world is good for me but I’m a ‘people person’ who loves food. The group in our village is only small and we all like to have a good natter, swapping ways of cooking fab meals with ‘free’ food. The diet however is no magic trick, just low fat, low sugar and hight fruit and veg. It encourages eating well balanced diet by filling up with healthy stuff.
Have a look at their web site as it gives you an idea of whats what.
I’m stuggling at the moment as I’ve regressed to my student days - living in my PJ’s and eating buttered toast and jam for comfort with cup after cup of lovely hot tea.

Well the Wii Fit was delievered, but not knowing anyhting about game consoles I ended up with just the board, the software and the remote - thought it was a bit cheap when I ordered it
Anyway, I’ve now found what I should have bought and have ordred it as a bundle package, so the board is going back.
maybe I should have bought a Nintendo DS for brain training instead…
Haha Cherub , you sound just llike me when it comes to gadgets … well you can always run around the board or step on/off until the console arrives LOL

Yippee, a pound this week. Had the right Wii Fit delievered, got it set up and we did 3 hours between us over the weekend. Thought it would be easy as a lot of it is games, but we actually ache like hell today lol!
Snap Cherub.
I am happy to see that the scales have started to move in the right directions again.
I haven’t been able to go running this week end due to the snow. I need to go swimming instead, but then my sofa is nice and cosy.
I am in the waiting room. Appointment with onc tomorrow with results of MRI and CT. I am not optimistic but need to face it.
Well done vercors and cherub , I have lost a 1lb too mush be the pounders week ! The Wii is great fun isnt it Cherub I use mine for 30 mins daily in the week and an hour at the weekend its nice to be able to exercise in the warm in this weather , good luck to all the other ladies with weight loss , well done you losers
Janice x
Good luck for tomorrow, Vercors - we’ll all be thinking of you.
As for me, I forgot about weighing myself this morning but being as I am still less than a fortnight post-op I am being kind to myself as exercising on the cross trainer is currently ‘verboten’, and going out for a walk in this icy weather is not an option as I am terrified of falling over and landing on my newly replaced implant. I might sneak a peep at the scales tomorrow morning, but I’ll be more than happy if I have remained stable at the mo, before I step up the pace soon.
In the meantime well done to all you losers this week and hope to join you again very soon.
Thanks Mazzalou,
The wait is over and received good news. No further progression. I am really thrilled as I have been in pain for a month where my mets are. Looks like it is back to the physio, but I would rather go to the physio than having to deal with more bad news.
I will try to refrain from over celebrating! I need to watch those scales still.
Good luck everyone.
I’m totally disappointed we haven’t had the snow here as I wanted to go for a good old yomp in it. I bought myself some very posh and fab wellies before Christmas (they make me feel like Shirley Bassey at Glastonbury - will have to get a frock to go with them lol). I’ve only had them on once in the rain and I am itching to try them on snow!
In the meantime I am making do with ski jumping on the Wii Fit…
Great news Vercors , lets hope 2013 a better year for us all xx
So pleased for you Vercors, you must be relieved xx
I’m stuck… weighed myself last two weeks and stayed the same ![]()
Lots of physical excersion this week (of the decorating DIY kind), so hopefully this weekend the scales will be kinder…
Congratualtions on your good news Vercors and at least you have lost loads of weight from your mind!
I am just starting back on my cross-trainer again after my recent op, although not allowed to pump those arms yet, and back to work next Wednesday
, but at least I will be away from the temptations of the biscuit tin!!! Hopefully, getting back into the routine of work once more and gradual exercise will help me get back on the weight loss trail with the rest of you ‘movers and losers’ as I have had rather a long reprise given Christmas and the New Year are way behind us now as we enter February.
Downhill to Summer now, and downhill on the scales too - I hope!!!

Hello lovelies!
Just wondered if I can come on board too!! I too did slimming world (5 times - am obviously a serial/cereal slimmer!!!) and got down to 10 stone. Since BC I’ve put on just over a stone and I still have rads and the delights of tamoxifen to go! Being fairly short I think I could end up shaped like an oxo cube after reading the side effects of tamoxifen - although the opposite may happen and I may I may melt into a puddle as already flushing madly and haven’t started taking them yet… yikes!!
Am 51 and 5’ 2.5" - oh yes … that half inch makes all the difference
- and now weigh… *ahem* 11st 3/4lb ![]()
I too have a wiifit but am not very good at using it!
I am trying to get back to sensible eating … but people keep bringing me chocolate!!! And I keep eating it! :o
Hugs to you all - Millymolly… you skinnyminny!!
xx
Lozza xxx
Lozzarooney1, I am 5ft 2 and would love to be 11st and 3/4lb - I am currently 12 st 1lb and a size 14/16. However, I don’t look absolutely huge as I exercise a lot and wear the right clothing for my build, no baggy stuff.
I’ve been on the Wii Fit every day for 3 weeks now and am losing the roll of flab around my abdomen, everything is zipping up without a struggle but just can’t understand why it’s not showing on the scales. I’ve been doing SW online since last July and have a lost about a stone, now I’m just going back and forward between the same 2lbs but I am not giving up. WW didn’t work for me either and I gained 8lbs on the ProPoints system over 10 weeks!
My practice nurse says she feels my struggle with dieting is a legacy from the steroids as they left me pre diabetic, so I am tested once a year. Just wish my GP would show more sympathy, her attitude is to tell me to walk more “as these are the NHS guidelines”. She doesn’t believe it when I say I am strict with food and I fit in up to an hour of exercise per day where possible. I had a gym membership for 2 years, went 2/3 times a week and it was the same thing, a bit toned but no real weight loss.
Hi Cherub
The reason that you don’t appear to be losing weight according to your scales is probably because your flab is being replaced by toned up muscle and muscle is more dense than flab and weighs more. Eventually the scales will move so keep it up, and well done!

Hi Cherub
Thank you for your response … tho I know that if I dont take action now I’ll pile it on - hence my posting and weight confession in the hope I’ll feel shamed into doing something about it!! blimey how good are you exercising!! Can I ask what exercises you’re doing on the wii? Only cos I need to get myself into a routine or it’ll never happen!!! I used to have a pedometer and walked loads - am finding it painful to walk still and am hoping this will get better.
I found I was a lot more successful when I wrote down everything I put in my mouth!! I will admit to comfort eating at the moment
totally need to get a grip!!! Hopefully between us all we can spur eachother on!!
Do you keep a food diary? If you don’t then I would suggest that you do. Also - try changing your foods. I know that sometimes it can be easy to stick to the same choices - try alternating them with more speed foods if you haven’t already. Although sometimes we do plateau for a couple of weeks before it starts to shift again!! Frustrating I know.
Hang on in there - you’re doing great! Am going to get my new book started - have been a pig (oink oink) today with choccy left over from Christmas! - in readiness for my proper start on Monday (start of the week - start of diet!). I feel I need to get my life back - have been putting off sorting out the clothes I can’t wear anymore but realise now that I’m not doing myself any favours by ignoring it. Sorry… am rambling now!!
Good luck to you all ![]()
Hugs
Lozza xx
Lozza, this is what I generally do on the Wii Fit, in no particular order :-
Rhythm boxing / rhythm kung fu (although the latter has me nearly wetting myself laughing)
Big top juggling
Jogging (it’s quite hard running on the spot for 5 mins)
I mix these up with things like the ski jumping, cycling and and the games where you are catching balls.
Even if I don’t get time to do games every day, I make sure I do some of the muscle exercises (lunges, squats, waist twists and tricep extensions) and I do some of the easier yoga positions.
If I only have 10 mins I will put on a 10 min workout DVD in the kitchen and use my swiss ball and hand weights to do upper or lower body. I also found a free app for Kindle that has a series of arm exercises with hand weights you can follow on screen, you can set the time to 5, 7.5 or 10 mins. I prop the Kindle up on the breakfast bar to follow it.
Summertimes I am known to walk for 10 mile stretches along the coastal path here, I also frequently walk in the local park as it overlooks the sea. I sit looking at the sea for meditation.
Is it any wonder I get annoyed with my GP when she drones on about walking more? She even told me she doesn’t view using a Swiss ball or going on the treadmill at a gym as proper exercise! (Don’t know if she has this attitude because she is involved with the Girl Guides, she is one of those jolly hockey sticks types lol)
