Hi,
It’s a year today that I was given the diagnosis of breast cancer. What a strange year it has been!
I still worry about new lumps.
Can anyone tell me if it is normal to get hard lumpy tissue in the surrounding area?
I don’t know whether it is scar tissue. I have also found a pea shaped lump close to the chest wall.
Anyway, I would like to wish everyone a happy christmas shopping season!!!
Love
Gill
hi Gill, i am only 5 months nearly down the line, if your worried about anything, do get in touch with your onc, and happy xmas shopping to you too

Hi Gill,
Just over 18 months for me and I’m still lumpy. Mine is scar tissue and I expect yours is too. I’d get that small lump checked for peace of mind.
Happy shopping!

Hi Gill
I agree with Alison. Any worries, ring your bc nurse or doctor. It really isn’t worth worrying when a quick five min phone call would probably get you a check up and the knowledge that it is scar tissue. I had a lump where cancerous lump was which was fluid from op and, since taking Tamoxifen, I have a lot more lumps in both breasts but am assured they are normal.
Finished my Christmas shopping…whoo hoo. Couldn’t stand a repeat of last year trying to shop with a burnt boob and painful arm…not that I have that this year…
Get that lump checked and let us know the outcome. On the subject of things to look for. Does anyone know what exactly we are supposed to look for apart from lumps? I would imagine abnormal bleeding but would you get checked if you had earache, headache and jaw pain as I have. Dentist has referred me to hospital but said I would have to wait a few months. Should I have rung bc nurse? What do other people do. I hate bothering anyone unnecessarily and wish there was a list of suspicious symptoms somewhere I could consult.

Hi Gill
I think that its worth just getting the lump checked, but I had the same. On one of my visits to the surgeon she felt this little hard pea lump at the edge of my scar, with minutes she had aspirated it and sent it for analasis. Anyway it came back as scar tissue, and she explained that later when she read my notes she remembered going back in (I had two ops) to have another look at the lymph nodes, and she reckoned that this caused it. All around my scar feel lumpy, and they have explained that this is where everything was cut and its starting to heal.
Hope that this helps.

Hi Debbie
I am also 1year down the line and have pain in my neck which i keep worrying about.
There always seems to be something.
I am fine in the day as i keep myself busy so it takes my mind off it. Its at night when your mind works overtime.
After reading these posts i will ring the BC nurse and see what she advises
Sorry can’t help with your lumpy tissue
Just seemed apt that we were both 12months down the line
I had my op on the 28th November should have been in on the 4th Dec which was my birthday luckily they changed it to the 28th (mind you you couldnt wish for a better birthday pressie than to have the horrible cancer removed ha ha)
Take Care
