Hi lizalou
No tips I’m afraid. If I had I wouldn’t be here myself!! Used to think a nice warm drink helped me sleep - now I think they increase the sweats - age, not bc!!
Hope you manage to get some shuteye soon.
God bless.
Christay
hope you get some good sleep soon - hugs
when i really cannot sleep i get a really good book, a cup of coffee and decide to read instead - about two hours later i wake enough to stagger off to bed!
I find when I can’t sleep I lie in bed thinking of 10 girls names, then 10 boys names, starting with the letter A and working my way through the alphabet. Have been doing it for so long that I can assure you I have now come up with some really obscure names! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. If you can find 10 names with the letters I, U, X etc that would be great lol. It passes the time if nothing else.

Snap. I have had another sleepless night. I used to get like this a week before my period but they are all over the place now (am on Tamoxifen). Only time I sleep is if I have a Nytol pill but I don’t want to become dependent. Like Christay, hot drinks set off a flush so you can’t win. Thinking of you anyway…

Hi lizalou
I was like that at the beginning, until my Doctor prescribed Lorazepam. Its only 1mg, but helps me get a good night’s sleep (may even be psychological, but I sleep, that’s the main thing !). Just an idea !

Thank you lovely ladies! I shall use some of these tips if sleepless this evening

My partner and I have always played a rather silly little word game to help us both get to sleep. It still works - although more often than not its my partner who will drop off first nowerdays. If that happens at least I win and trying to think how he could’ve won will often help me to sleep anyway.
The idea is one of you starts by saying a letter that will eventually form a word, and you then take it in turns to add another letter to the beginning or end of the word. So R, RD, ORD, ORDI, AORDI, … for instance. The rules are you must never complete a whole word, otherwise you lose (you also lose if you bluff - and are challenged). If you can’t think of a letter to add (towards a real word) you can either resign, or bluff, or you can challenge (on the basis that your opponent could be bluffing already). You win if you force your opponent to complete a word, or resign, or catch him bluffing.
Often you will drop off when you are about to lose… because you are sure there must be a word, but just can’t think of it. Its has the same effect as counting sheep I think.
Hi Lizalou
Oh I do sympathise. I have given up now. If I can’t sleep I get up, go downstairs and read. I am lucky in that I know I don’t now have to be at work in the morning, or sort kids out in the morning, so keep telling myself it really doesn’t matter. Must remember to see if quisie is on this site at the same time! Hate the thought of taking tablets - enough of those already!
Good luck with it all
Love
Dilys
