Had my first TAC last week, now experiencing abdominal pain. Saw the chemo nurses yesterday, they checked me over. Turns out it’s a side effect of the antibiotics (levofloxacin). Have been told to take the last 3 doses and paracetamol for the pain and if it gets worse to phone them. So thats another 2 days after today to feel uncomfortable.
Has anyone else had the same side effect and does it clear as soon as the antibiotics have finished?
Do the side effects lessen as time goes on?
And would they automatically change the antibiotic when I have my next chemo or do I have to request it?
Sorry Avril, I have no answers to your questions, but hopefully someone will soon come on and give you some advice. I didn’t like to see you had had no replies!
The other thing you could do is phone the BCC nurse helpline tomorrow - they would have a better idea of what might be going on medically.

Today is a little bit better and with only one more day to go, I think I can get through it.
I am new to this and it just seems such a trail at times. I’m normally one of those people that finds it hard to ask for help and just soldiers on.
But the powers that be put the fear of god into you that if you have an infection etc, that awful things can happen.
So when this happened, I phoned the emergency number only to be checked over and told it’s a side effect. Now I feel a bit of a fool to have worried.
I’m just concerned that this is going to happen everytime, because getting over the chemo is enough without that complication.
