abnormal result

Hi

Iam new to this site, this afternoon, my mom’s doc call and let us know the mamogram result, but the nurse didn’t say anything, just tell us to call her back. Note: her doc only call pt when they have abnormal result,. That makes us all worry. we all scare about breast cancer. My mom told me that 8 yrs ago, she had an abnormal mamogram, then she repeated the test 3 mons, and 6 mons, finally, her doc told that it was normal, it just a scar in her breast. She has mamogram every year after, but radiologist asked for her old film to compare, so all the tests were normal every year. But this time, she had her mamogram done in difference place, and they don’t have the old film. I dont know about the abnormal result is just about that scar or something new. we so worry and scare.

I cant see your posting yet, but I assume you have had fna or core biopsy tests. I had a core biopsy and fna three weeks ago. I had a benign core results but fna (fine need aspiration) was in the middle with abnormal cells. I have been told it probably benign but there is a small chance of malignancy and there taking out the lump next friday! To say I am petrafied is putting it lightly. Abnormal cells can often be benign, so try not to worry if you can. Easier said than done. Hopefully people will come on and reassure you like me, and not tell you lots of stories about how they had those and they turned out to be evasive cancer. I know people try and help, but not quite sure, how telling someone who is really worried something like that can be seen as helpful!! I have been told the odd scary thing on here by people and it has turned me into a nervous wreck! I find ringing the helpline is great as they put things into perspective. They have told me that the chances of abnormal cells being cancer are slim! When I have told them things I have been told on here, they say this site is a very small amount of the world, and anyone who gets good results will be away enjoying there life and not thinking of breast cancer.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Ps I know what your going through and if you would like to chat more let me know.

Hi

Is it posible to have breast cancer without any lump? My mom went to doctor to have a breast exam in clinic almost every month. the last time she went was in april, and she had a mamogram in may, doc office called and told her to call back which maybe the result is abnormal. But the office is closed on friday, she has to wait until saturday to see doc. We are so scared and worried. we feel like it takes forever to see doctor.

Yes it is possible to have breast cancer without a lump, but I would hope that the problem with your mother’s mammogram will be down to the scar that was previously detected. I hope she gets a clear result when she speaks to her doctor.
