Aches & pains
Aches & pains Hi, I’m 2 years post diagnosis & generally doing well, currently on Tamoxifen. I’m worried at the moment about an ache I get in my left thigh - its not bad enough to send me rushing back to the hospital but it just niggles at the back of my mind. Its only a mild ache every few days but I have been feeling it on & off for around 18 months, now wondering if its getting worse or not. I can’t decide whether to tell my drs & perhaps then have a scan (just the thought makes me feel shaky) or to carry on assuming that it is Ok & have an occasional bad day worrying (like today!). Has anyone any advice?
Sandra
stop worrying - get it checked out Hi Sandra
My advice woudl be to go and see your GP, and have a chat. It could be a very simpe thing, like lumbago or sciatica, which can be sorted out. What you need is peace of mind, which you will never get if you keep worrying about it with no help or diagnosis. The unkown is always worse to deal with!
Good luck

Hi Sandra,I’m almost three years post op.Started getting an achey right thigh in May not long after my check up. It was more annoying than anything and lasted all Summer.I ended up going to my GP who said it was prob muscular but to mention it at my Oct checkup.I did and the onc just laughed and said it was old age creeping up on me andthat he gets achey thights as well! It seemed to dissappear after that! I think my worrying about it kept it going and if it was anything sinister the pain would be constant and more severe. As it hasn’t got worse in 18mths I’d say you’ve nothing to worry about!
Hi Sandra I was told that I should only worry about pain that was constant rather than intermittent, and was worse at night. I had severe pain in my left shin for a couple of months before a check-up, but when I mentioned it to the onc, he dismissed it because it came and went. Eventually it disappeared of its own accord.
I would give your bcn a ring - they’re usually quite good about advising whether or not you need to pop into the clinic.
Thanks everyone Thanks for all your replies, they were very reassuring. Just had a hectic week so not much time to think about it, but the ache hasn’t been around very much at all, so I’ve decided to mention it at my next check up just for peace of mind - not that such a thing really exists once you’ve had bc.
Take care all
Sandra
