Aching Bones/Joints! advice please?

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has or is going through this? Im 31 and had WLE grade 3 no lymph involvment, chemo(last one on 28th Nov) and due to start RADS on 10th Jan.

Since about a week and a half ago ive developed aching bones…Obviously im paranoid that it could be something sinister! I seem like whenever I move, my bones crack more easier than ever before! My back is aching heaps and so is my sciatica nerve.

Im not on any hormone treatment - is this because of the lack of periods? Do periods generate some sort of hormones to keep you supple?

I know I sound silly, just obviously worried.

Thanks in advance

Could be that chemo has affected your hoemones. What chemo did you have? If you had a taxane, thatr would be the cause of the pain.

Hi Kelley,

I only had EC. It just seems to have been since stopping chemo for some reason. My last period was Nov 5 so maybe it could be to do with that?

Hiya Lynne

I was exactly the same. Finished chemo beginning of August and rads end September, no further treatment as I’m triple neg. About 4 weeks after finishing chemo I suddenly turned into an old lady lol, I ached everywhere, even my fingers. My Onc explained that, after chemo, everything is waking up again and it’s a bit like a drug addict going cold turkey! It probably lasted a couple of months and I’m ok now, well, apart from the ‘usual’ aches & pains which I’m putting down to my age (47)!!!

Don’t worry, it does go away.

I am 52. I had 12 periods in the 2006 calendar year. However, the only one this year was in January. That was before dx and before chemo had started. Not a dickie bird since! I have experienced aching joints and bones due to lots of G-CSF injections throughout chemo in any case. Chemo (6xFEC) stopped in September, I had a mastectomy in November and started on Tamoxifen 3 weeks ago.

Although I am extremely fit and active - running and tennis and anything else that’s going - when I wake up in the morning I sometimes move like I am aged 90+, especially in the hands, feet and pelvis. I think it is due to depletion of oestrogen, but I will check with either the onc or my GP. I had a bone scan just after dx which was normal so am not concerned that the pain indicates anything sinister.

Have a good time tomorrow!

Hiya

Me again! Forgot to say, my periods stopped halfway through chemo and haven’t been seen since.
