aching bones

Hi everyone,

finished all of my treatment last June, I ache from head to toe literally,

it started with my left foot, I have had a steroid injection in the bottom of it ouch, which helped for a while, but now the pain has come back.

The aches feel in my bones, not my muscles, I have an appointment to see my G.P. this afternoon, but I was just wondering whether anyone else is or has experienced this after their chemo and rads, I must admit I am getting a bit worried now, I am 45 but feel a lot older, having gone through the menopause early I was wondering about osteoporosis or arthritis, or God forbid…

Hi there,
You don’t mention whether you are on Tamoxifen. Bone aches and pains and general stiffness are among hte known side effects. I had quite a bit of low back ache - coccyx, lumbar spine, into hips - when I began taking it, which persisted for about four months before largely disappearing, though I still find I get a bit stiff if I sit a while and experience some tail-bone ache around the time of oestrogen dips.

Also, did you have neulasta jabs at all during chemo? I *think* that sometimes the bone ache effects can take a while to disipate.

I spoke to my BCN and onc, both of whom assured me, after close questioning, that my pain was the ‘wrong sort’ to worry about. I do think, however, you may need to be a bit assertive to get this sorted.

Hoping there’s a simple and safe explanation…
