finished all of my treatment last June, I ache from head to toe literally,
it started with my left foot, I have had a steroid injection in the bottom of it ouch, which helped for a while, but now the pain has come back.
The aches feel in my bones, not my muscles, I have an appointment to see my G.P. this afternoon, but I was just wondering whether anyone else is or has experienced this after their chemo and rads, I must admit I am getting a bit worried now, I am 45 but feel a lot older, having gone through the menopause early I was wondering about osteoporosis or arthritis, or God forbid…could anyone share with me please, if only to stop me fretting so much,
Liz - you also suffered like mad during Tax didn’t you? I seem to remember we had very similar SEs, including the horrible pains/aches where we were crawling on our knees at some points and could’t hardly walk.
I still get bone aches and pains, I was worried about it too. If I sit for a while then get up, i’m like an arthritic old woman and it takes me a moment before I can start moving.
I spoke with my BCN and it’s the after effects of the SEs, and my last was August 2nd.
It’s muscular and bone for me, if I do more than 1/2 hour movement I get pins and needles in my feet, the go numb then my arches hurt like hell and burn, and my legs ache, knees bad in particular, then I feel like I’ve been hiking for 5 hours.
I was told it’s not going to be secondaries. I hope that is the case!
For some reason this thread seems to have appeared twice! I commented on the other one thus:
Hi there,
You don’t mention whether you are on Tamoxifen. Bone aches and pains and general stiffness are among the known side effects. I had quite a bit of low back ache - coccyx, lumbar spine, into hips - when I began taking it, which persisted for about four months before largely disappearing, though I still find I get a bit stiff if I sit a while and experience some tail-bone ache around the time of oestrogen dips.
Also, did you have neulasta jabs at all during chemo? I *think* that sometimes the bone ache effects can take a while to disipate.
I spoke to my BCN and onc, both of whom assured me, after close questioning, that my pain was the ‘wrong sort’ to worry about. I do think, however, you may need to be a bit assertive to get this sorted.
I have been really suffering recently with rain in my feet and ankles. This week it has been unbearable. I have been having to take painkillers just to be able to cope. I can no longer stand still for more than a few minutes. If I sit down with my feet up or first thing in the morning it is really painful to get moving again. Any ideas?
Revcat . I’m on tamoxifen, have been for about three weeks … SEs are hot flushes so not sleeping but yesterday and today have aching lower back. I had neulasta and its same ache as that … and has happened at the identical time …though not had it! How weird.
Im on Arimidex and this also causes joint pain. My friend was suffering joint pain on Arimidex so consultant changed her - sorry dont know which tablet, but she is still the same. It must be a common side effect.
