Addenbrooke’s hospital, Cambridge

Hello, I’ve been recently diagnosed at Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge. I was wondering if anyone is in the same boat or has experience with the surgeons at the hospital. Everything is so confusing right now. Thanks.

Hi im not at Addenbrookes but im local at Bury St Edmunds and currently going through treatment. Have had mammoplasty and SNB then just had reexcision for margins plus full axillary clearance. Im 45yrs. Would be happy to chat or meet for a coffee sometime if you’re near to Cambridge?

Hello @yellowflower Sorry you find yourself here but I’m sure you will find the forum a good source of information and support. I’m at Addenbrookes. Diagnosed in February with triple positive (HER2 positive, ER/PR positive) and needed chemo before surgery due to the size of the tumour. I had lumpectomy, Sentinel nodes removal and chest flap a couple of weeks ago. Awaiting pathology results. Not sure its protocol to share surgeon names here but I am pleased with mine and the level of care I’ve received at Addenbrookes so far. Happy for you to DM me if you think I can be of further help.

Hello @alpacagirl thanks so much for replying and sorry you are going through all of this. It’s so helpful knowing you are at Addenbrooke’s. I will message you, thanks!

Hi @yellowflower So sorry you’ve received a breast cancer diagnosis ..

I was actually a nurse at Addenbrooke’s 23 years ago, so I have a bit of a soft spot for the hospital! Obviously that was a very long time ago and I couldn’t comment on what treatment there is like now from a patient’s perspective, but it has always been a major teaching hospital with specialist services.

I think with breast cancer especially, everyone’s experience can be quite different depending on their diagnosis, treatment and individual team, so hopefully you’ll hear from some people who have been treated there recently and can give you a much more up to date patient perspective x
