I know it’s summer (or is it? Can’t tell for all the rain) but we live down a single track road (15 miles along hilly roads from the Onc centre) which never gets gritted any more and it looks as if my treatment plan has rads in it for Nov-Jan sometime (I have the chemo and the op to get over meanwhile so the timing can’t be very precise). I know that for the past 3 years there has been a 2-3 week period when we could not get out of our road. How do other people manage radiotherapy with weather disruption? Should I plan on booking myself into a premiere inn? Does the delay matter? I know this all sounds very previous and anxious to worry so far in advance but I’ve got to take a decision when to apply for my “mortgage holiday” and if I am at risk of making big expensive plans for RT then I need to postpone it til the back end of my treatment.
Some hospitals have accomodation for people living at a distance when they need daily treatment, so a friend who works in the NHS told me. Maybe worth asking your hospital what their policy is?
