I finished rads on 10th and everything seemed to be going well - am still putting cream on and washing with aqueous cream, but have noticed quite a large area under my boob that looks like really severe sun burn, purpleish and some areas where the skin has come off but there is new skin underneath, so the skin hasnt broken.
I guess I am worried if I do nothing it could get worse and the skin will break, but feel like I keep running to the docs for no reason and of course they are sick of the sight of me lol
Has anyone had similar and did it clear up given time and plenty of cream? It isnt actually sore, but my soreness radar is slightly affected as I am still quite numb after surgery.
It sounds like the same thing that happened to me. My rads finished on nov 30th and about 5 ays later found under my boob very sore and like you said looked like sunburn. It was very hot and uncomfortable. The problem was i couldnt keep it dry and the skin broke. I went to GP and she gave me a script for a dressing called PolyMEM. It was brill u just use it dry from the packet. It is very comfy also to wear. She also reccomended that I try to get as much air to it as possible as this helped to keep it dry and therefore there was less chance of the skin breaking. Hope this is of some help.
I haven’t had rads as I went the fill mx route but my friend who finished treatment as I cam out of hospital had had a wle and rads…she developed a really sore patch underneath and her skin broke in the area. Her GP prescribed canestan but of course that’s not for broken skin. The PS saw her and recommended savlon. It gavebher immediate relief and there hasn’t been a problem since.
I don’t understand why women aren’t given advice about likely issues and solutions before they finish the treatment, so many shouldn’t have to suffer the same are effects!!
Hi
My skin cracked after 20 rads. I got some weird dressings recomended by the radiographer which did help. Nipple was so sore I remember joking with son that he had to be careful and not step on anything pink and round cos it might be my nipple. As for sore skin sudocreme. As a family we swear by it for any skin soreness it is very soothing and works very quickly at taking the heat out of sunburn and rad soreness. However please note it can only be used after rads have finished as it is a zinc based cream which is a massive no no during treatment. I use to spend time topless around the house (it was summer) as much as possible too.
Don’t worry though mine heald very quickly.
Good luck.
