Had lumpectomy 5 weeks ago at the same time 14 lymph nodes were taken 11 of which were cancerous. Am starting chemo friday 5th.
My breast is still a tiny bit still swollen and under my arm is still a bit sore. Is this normal?

I am so sorry that you have had the need to find your way here but you have come to the right place for help, advice and support.
I had a lumpectomy with 12 nodes removed and I am sure that I was still a little swollen and sore 5 weeks after but if you are concerned call you breast care nurse (bcn) tomorrow so you can discuss it with them, they are there to support you all through your treatment.
Good luck with the chemo, I finished mine 09/06 and now half way through radiotherapy, it’s tough but you will get through it and the ladies on this site will help you every step of the way.

My arm was sore for ages and i only had 3 nodes taken out .Also my breast has still got a lumpy patch in it which really worried me and i asked my onc anout it and she said it was scar tissue and not to worry. I had my op on 31 may so you are quite a way behind me so im sure everything is just normal but as Daisygirl says if you are worried ask your BCN.

Hi poodlepatch, i had a lumpectomy & 4 nodes taken out 3 & a half weeks ago & under my arm is still quite sore. Apparantely it’s quite common to be sore for a while & they have to go through nerves to get to the nodes. My BCN did say it was normal when i asked her but u can always ring yours & ask if ur worried. I’ve got to have all the rest of my nodes removed next monday as they found cancer cells in some of the sampled ones so they’re going to open up my nicely healing but still sore wounds, aarrgghh! Hopefully the soreness won’t be any worse but i’m not taking any bets on it. xx

Thanks for asking the question I had WLE & SN Biopsy a week ago, and I too have a sore underarm! I was wondering if it was down to the weather but obviously not! I’m going to see my consultant tomorrow so will ask my BCN about it.
