Advice re changing consultant?

My daughter had mx and recon 4 years ago and has now been advised to have her other breast removed (and her ovaries)

She has a very poor relationship with the surgeon who operated on her and would really like to transfer to another. How easy is this to do -and would it mean having to change ‘teams’?

She has had an excellent relationship with her oncologist but unfortunately he is on secondment elsewhere for 6 months so she isn’t able to discuss this with him… and the surgeon is trying to pressurise her.
Has anyone had experience like this- or known of bi-latateral reconstructions performed by different surgeons?

hi, i changed my surgeon because of intitial misdiagnosis. I just simply told the BCN and oncologist that i wanted to change, and it was arranged for me. I now have a really lovely surgeon and i am happy i changed.
good luck

I had an LD recon late 2008 by one surgeon, and the only option to achieve better symmetry was an LD flap on the healthy breast.

Unfortunately, the surgeon who carried out the first procedure in 2008 was not available, and another surgeon did it instead.

Absolutely no problems at all, but I was being treated at a hospital with a reputation for excellence, so the quality of service from any of their surgeons is to be expected, and I am utterly thrilled with the results and the level of treatment I have received.

I changed my surgeon as well – my mastectomy and diep reconstruction went really badly. when i spoke to one of my friends who is reconstructive surgeon in america, she suggested that i switch to another surgeon and suggested who i should go to. i just had to speak to my gp and they totally understood why i wanted to switch – it was pretty easy, and well worth it
