After a core biopsy.

Hi Im just after some reassurance really please.

2 weeks ago I had an untrasound guided core biopsy. The incissions were in the area under my arm and I had titanium clip markers inserted. I was told any bruising would be normal and I could be sore for a couple of days.

The bruising was pretty colourful. Bright purple with peppered with lots of tiny red dots that covered about 1/4 to 1/3rd of my boob on the lower outside bit up to under my arm.

The incission has healed fine and is just a tiny scab now, the bruising has gone through the colours of the rainbow and also faded. What has not gone is that I am still sore. Stretching my arm hurts like something is pulling inside and across my chest. It is painful to lift my arm up in the air and sometimes even small movements in certain directions hurt.

I mentioned to the breast care nurse when she phoned with the biopsy results a week ago that I still had heavy bruising and swelling and was told to take over the counter pain relief.

I have not seen anyone since the biopsy that was carried out at a hospital which is over an hours drive away and hence the telephone results.

The 14mm lobulated density in right breast upper outer quadrant was picked up in a routine mammogram. Results of the biopsy are Fibroadenomatoid lesion benign B2. There is no further contact needed and Ive been discharged & returned to the normal screening programme.

What I’d like to know is it normal for such a tiny proceedure to hurt 2 weeks later to the point it is still limiting movement of my arm, or am I just being soft?

I also cant seem to find out much about ‘Fibroadenomatoid lesions’ other than they appear to be rare and the recommendation is that they should be removed. They obviously think this wont be needed as I wont be seen my anyone else now.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Glad  your results were clear! I was very sore sfter my second biopsy for quite a while but it might be worth seeing your GP just in case there is any build up of fluid round it as I know this happened to me initially but don’t know if it would happen 2 weeks after. Actually the pain after that biopsy was as bad as the pain after mastectomy! Xx
