I had two VABs on left breast on 19 May and still have swelling around the one they did nearer the nipple, with a numb area and then a very tender area. I’ve also noticed a couple of little lumps on the areola that I don’t think were there before - my BCN says they are probably because of the VABs. I had 3 core biopsies before these and was only sore for a couple of days. Anyone else had similar experience? thanks ![]()
Hi Liz red
I had VAB on April 25 and my breast was sore and parts numb right till surgery on June 15th! Had all sorts of sensation and numbness and pains and got quite panicked but assured it’s normal. A vab is an invasive tough procedure and bruising and damage is normal. My breast also changed shape for a while whilst things repaired inside. It was worrying but normal. Not nice though! When do you get results?

HI, thanks for replying and good to know someone else has had long standing after effects. I had the results quite quickly - atypical hyperplasia but I have high grade DCIS on the other side so they are still wanting to do a surgical biopsy on the left (where I had the VABs) when they do my right side mastectomy next week so I guess they still think they might find something there. Hard not to get worried about swellings and lumps and bumps with everything going on. Hope your surgery went well, do you have further treatment ahead? x
