I had bilateral mastectomies just over four years ago, followed by radiotherapy. My cancer was oestrogen positive (two grade one tumours and dcis in between)and I was put on Tamoxifen. I will have been taking it for five years next May and I’m just wondering what happens next? I know that if I was post-menopausal there are other drugs they could give me - but I don’t think I am. I’m 45 and as soon as I started taking Tamoxifen my periods became very rare - sort of annual events. I don’t, however, have any other menopausal symptoms. I’m not comfortable just stopping the Tamoxifen and not taking anything else. My sister’s cancer came back after over 10 years and she now has secondaries. Does anyone know what my options might be?
