Hi, I’m new to this site, so bear with me!Dx BC Feb 1996,had mastectomy & chemo.Secondaries in neck lymphs + pluerial effusion L & R March 2010…14 yrs later!
Had 6 x Taxotere, last one end June, had CT scan July & onc pleased with result. I’m seeing her in 3 months for check up.
I suffered from nausea, but not sick during chemo. My digestion has not recovered,I have a “lump in my throat” feeling and stomach is queasy, has anyone else had this?
GP has prescribed Omeprazole, which I’m hoping will sort the problem, but I’m worried it might be something more sinister as I thought the ubbly bubbly heartburn feelings would go once chemo had finished.
Hi Saj
Hope this makes you feel better but I never suffered from indigestion before taxotere and during my chemo and since then which is now 2 1/2 years ago, I suffer from indigestion exactly as you describe it - lump in throat feeling and sometimes really bad pain which goes right into my back. I think the treatment has affected my digestive system which is why this happens. I found omeprazole didn’t really work - I think I tried just a normal rennie or something like that which helped. If I missed meals it made it worse by the way.
Hope this reassures you
xx
I had 3FEC & 3Tax and finished this time last year. It’s one of those things they don’t really tell you, that the side effects don’t always go as soon as your treatment is finished. Tax can really irritate your digestive system and it can take a long time to settle down afterwards. Mention it to your Onc if you are worried and hopefully they can reassure you.
I had ‘lump in throat’ on tax.It was very odd and my voice would just ‘catch’ in mid sentence.I coped by calling it ‘Froggy’ and trying to laugh it off.I have never known anything quite like it before or since. It disappeared completely after treatment finished.
Hi all,
Thankyou for your reassurances, they’ve made me feel less panicked about this horrible feeling!
I’ve also had the “Froggy” thing, and have wondered if it is connected to the lumpy throat feeling.
Missing meals def makes it worse, I feel as tho’ I’m picking at food most of the day! I’ve also noticied too much fruit can have an effect, too acidic I suppose.
There seems to be quite a few things we aren’t warned about re Tax.
I was told it could affect my nails…not that they will fall off, which is happening to 4 of them at the mo!!!
Luckily my GP is very good and will refer me if nec, or if I ask him to!I’m still at the stage of thinking every ache and pain is sinister.
I’m really looking forward to the first grandchild arriving, the poor thing doesn’t realise the weight it will have on it’s shoulders, keeping me occupied!!
Once again thanks to you all for your replies,
Sandra xx
