Hi - I’ve been on Letrozole for ten weeks now and have read that Abemaciclib should be started within 12 weeks of starting but no sign of a start date. Is this correct? Thanks
Hi, I believe this is correct. There are several criteria you have to have to be eligible to receive Abemaciclib on the NHS. You can Google this, but if you want to receive this treatment and are eligible I would be contacting your oncology department tomorrow. Sometimes things are missed.
Thank you! I’ve rung twice, trying to get an answer! Also been waiting three weeks for my radiotherapy start date! Mrs Angry coming out tomorrow!!!
I started letrozole end of May 2023. I had been on it a couple of weeks and then had 15 daily sessions of radiotherapy over the following three weeks. I started abemaciclib in September 2023. I understood the abema had to start within 12 weeks of radiotherapy ending. I was3 days outside the 12 weeks when I got my first prescription of abema.
Hi birdie28,
Thank for posting.
It’s understandable that you want to know the recommended timeframe to starting abemaciclib.
You say further down in your post that you are waiting for a start date for radiotherapy. As @caroleanne says, it is recommended that you start the abemaciclib within 12 weeks of completing radiotherapy.
As @shade commented, do contact your oncology team to discuss the timeframe for starting your radiotherapy and abemaciclib.
