Alcohol whilst on cheme

I drank all the way through Chemotherapy , Radiotherapy and beyond.

I enjoy a glass or several of wine and didnt want to give it up if possible. I drank as normal during EC and was fine -never felt even slightly squiffy though which was a surprise. On Taxol though everything tasted so horrible I had to amend my habits and took to having cheap lager as my drink of choice -simply because tea and coffee were nasty and slimy and I dont have soft drinks because of Aspartame. The lager worked surprisingly well at cutting through the yucky mouth and it meant I didnt feel deprived. As it was cheap lager the alcohol content was low to say the least but that didnt matter .I was just happy to be able to drink something that I could taste.

Irina ~the Heartburn is simply awful isnt it? .I never found a cure -or even much relief .I stil have it at times so if anyone has any tried and tested cures I would be very interested.

Thank god for this forum!!

Having just had a cra**p weekend rowing with my OH over various things - he says I’m drinking too much when I had my first glass of wine (turned into a bottle) in over 10 days on Wed (cos of the op and being on antibiotics) and then wanted a bottle of wine on Thursday after getting good news with my path results - and hearing him and every bleeding well meaning visitor say how well I am doing and it just takes time as I sob and grieve for my lost breast (I haven’t yet introduced myself to my new one) it is sooooo good to hear that I am just like everyone else!!!

Bring on the row over the fact that I shouldn’t be drinking when I start my chemo, gggrrr!
