I have just started chemo and although I don’t drink much, usually once a week what is the advice on drinking while on chemo.
Hi melena
I was advised no alcohol for 48 hours after chemo. I found that for about 10 days after I didn’t fancy it anyway as my mouth was all funny and nothing tasted nice. I guess you will just have to see if you feel like it.
Good luck xx
Morning ,
I always had red wine with my Sunday dinner and I was fine. I was one of the lucky ones and was never ever sick, just a very sore mouth . I would recommend getting a large box of ice lollies to cool your mouth.
Sending you positive vibes. Love Tracy xxx
One glass a dau won’t hurt, there are no contraindications with chemo, But, as said before it depends if you fancy it. I have one glass most nights, but when I first started 2 1/2 years ago on FAC I didn’t drink at all for the 6 cycles… good luck and hope you have a relaxing weekend.xxx
Thank you all for your help
A little bit of what you fancy does you good ![]()
I had ‘hot toddies’ most nights when on chemo
usually towards the end of a cycle because, as others have said, chemo can give you a sore mouth/affects taste buds at start of cycle. It won’t interfere with chemo drugs.
Hiya
I was told having alochol helps with side effects , so drank wine when I wanted to. I found chemo quite easy
Best wishes
Good to know, bmw07 and others! I haven’t started chemo yet, but was thinking that alcohol would be banned. Thank goodness it isn’t

Me too xx
Some of us will be going on to Letrazole or similar hormones-in my case back on to Letrozole for E+. Letrozole can negatively affect your bone calcium levels and so can alcohol and caffeine. So it’s a no-brainer to keep alcohol intake down! I’ll be indulging at Xmas and family celebrations, but for now it is off the menu, despite the heat.
