Allergic reaction to FEC chemo

Can anyone help.
When I had my first FEC chemo on Sept 11th I had an allergic reaction eyes, face, hands, feet and rest of body swelled was so dizzy couldn’t stand.
This happened about 2hrs after my treatment finished.
My oncologist has never heard of a delayed reaction like this and I am struggling to get any advise.

Angie

Oh Angie I am so sorry to hear you had a reaction similar to me. Mine was about an hour to an hour and a half after my Epirubicin Chemo. The E of your FEC. My Onc said never happened to her before either. I have asked the question on various boards and not had any replies by any one else that this happened to.
I’m sorry to say that they gave me antihistamin and steroids before my next lot and I had the reaction within 5 minutes of the first syringe full. My dose was 170 but only managed 50 the second time. They have taken me off chemo now as my reaction is too severe, my heart beat goes up to a dangerous level and my throat also swells up. The dizzy feeling is your blood pressure dropping apparently, it’s horrid isn’t it.
The allergy clinic at Southampton have treated others with this reaction (very rare) and have had people who have managed to continue after they have had pre treatment with piriton and hydracortisone (spellings?). So fingers crossed that’s what will happen for you. The allergy clinic told me that a reaction/SE can occur up to 10 days later which is why the hospital ask what’s happening with you.

I hope you’re not too anxious now. Your Onc will know what to do even though she’s not come across it before! They will watch you really carefully next time for any signs at all of a reaction.

Take care, if you want to PM me
