i had my first tax last weds after 4 ec but had an instant allergic reaction…within 30 seconds. of course, i cannot have any more and went to see onc on friday and she is putting me on paclitaxol. she says this is very similar but really wants to give it a go. i am not scared of another allergic reaction(well a bit) because i know i will be monitored …i am terrified of the side effects as i was with tax. i know its selfish to feel this way and i should be grateful they are throwing everything at it. its all the threads i have read of the poor people who have suffered on this …it is really upsetting me. deep down i was hoping she would keep me on ec coz i know i was ok with this. as anyone else been offered paclitaxol after not cutting the tax. i have also had 2 infections which don’t help how i feel.

Hi Karen, I’m on FEC but my friend had a reaction to taxotere like you and she had taxol a week later with no problems. It’s within the same family of drugs. She has finished now and she’s fine. Good luck. Liz
