(Almost) diagnosed today

Hi, Wnet to see the breast specialist today and he’s pretty certain I have IBC. Waiting for results from biopsy but he was pretty clear that’s what it is. Feel wobbly and shaky… a bit hard to take in and have to wait over a week now for biopsy results to confirm everything. Would welcome hearing from people who’ve been through this. Thanks to you all!

Hi JakeB

Welcome to the BCC forums, I’m sure some of the other users will be a long soon to offer you their support and experiences.  In the meantime if you need additional support or just to talk things through do give the BCC helpline a call on 0808 800 6000.  Here you can share your thoughts and concerns with a memeber of staff who will offer you a listening ear as well as emotional support and practical information.  Lines are open week days 9 to 5pm and Saturday 10 to 2pm.

Best wishes Sam, BCC Facilitator

Hi Jakeb

You will hear it a lot in here but the waiting has to be the worst thing! It’s like being in limbo… try to occupy yourself. I never cleaned so much while waiting. Just didn’t like being left with my own thoughts as they always turned to the worst scenario.

All the best with the results. Please let us know how you get on. Will be thinking of you.

Love Lorna x

Sorry for your diagnosis but it’s good you know and will be treated for it. There are people out there unaware! You are in a safer place and in good hands truly. Now you can start with the treatment to cure you hopefully and for that you have to do whst it takes. It’s amazing how much better you feel when you start the process rather than hanging around waiting. Hey we all sorry every ache and pain is cancer. I certainly do! As do the majority of the population who have not been diagnosed. Cliche I know but take it day by day don’t look too far ahead, that’s when the negativity creeps in. It’s only human. Try to be positive. You are now being treated to get rid of the swine! Sending love Lorna x x

Kess what’s NED? Keep seeing it x

Thanks so much Lorna and Kess. I really appreciate your words.
I think NED means No Evidence of Disease?

I second that, congratulations Kess!
I may get results of PET scan tomorrow…am keeping everything crossed but stomach in knots.

PET scan results totally clear apart from a bit of ambiguity in the neck but prob ( hopefully) not cancer related. Started chemo last Thursday m, it was daunting…so many drugs… And I’ve felt pretty nauseous ever since but hopefully that’ll ease. Good to be started in treatment but still just in shock to find myself here, it’s all been such a whirlwind! Thanks former your replies, it really does make a difference.

This was the hardest day of my life, it wasn’t only hard for me, but for my husband and two young children.

I found out I have IBC Thursday am 31 with a 4 year old little girl. Got to see oncologist Tuesday and ct scan Thursday with aim for chemo following week.
