Is there anyone new to the site from the above area.
I live in Amesbury, and since diagnosis in july have yet to meet anyone in the same boat. Everyone I speak to knows someone, or a friend of a friend. I feel it would help to speak to someone directly.
I have had my visit with the Oncologist, go to the hospital on monday for assessment prior to starting Chemo. I have read lots of the posts, all of which have been very informative but i feel to actually speak to someone would be better still.
I would like to thank everyone for their comments as these have made it so much easier to understand. Good luck to everyone on this journey and only hope i have as much success as you have had.
There is a support group in Swindon, but I suppose that’s a bit far for you. There are monthly coffee mornings for anyone affected by bc regardless of where they are having their treatment. Xxtina
Hi Anna51,
I know what you mean, I met a local lady on Thursday who’s a month ahead of me. I start chemo on the 27th. I’ve had a rough week and it was lovely to talk to someone face to face who really understood what it was like.
I live in Swindon and hope to go to the next coffee morning which is next Thursday. Have you asked your BC nurse, she may be able to help you get in touch which someone in your area? Good luck to you. xx
I am posting a link to information on the BCC ‘One to one support’ service which aims to put you in touch with someone who has had a similar experience, I hope you find this helpful:
Our helpliners may also have information about support groups near you, if you give them a call on 0808 800 6000 they may be able to point you in the right direction. The line is open weekdays 9-5 and Sat 9-2.
