Anastrazole and Zolodex

Hello ladies

I’m now 50 and after 2 years of taking Tamoxifen I switched to Anastrazole in January.  In March however it transpired that I wasn’t actually post menopause but peri and so Zolodex injections were added to the mix.

I just wondered if there are other ladies who are still peri-menopause and on an A! plus Zolodex as the oncologist told me when it was discovered that I was still peri that it was still better for me to stay on Anastrazole plus Zolodex rather than switching back to Tamoxifen.  A belt and braces approach.  I am to have the Zolodex for 3 years.

I was told today at the breast clinic that normally you stay on Tamoxifen until you’re 55 to ensure you are post menopause so as usual I’m anxious again as differing opinions.  I believe that being on Anastrazole plus Zolodex does put me in the post menopause status now though.

Wondering what happens then when my 3 years is up on Zolodex and I will still only be 52!

Anyone else in a similar position please?

Thanks very much!

Hi
Sorry sent that a bit early. I was on Anastrozole and zoladex for 4 years. I was unable to take Tamoxifen and being pre menopausal took Zoladex so I was able to take Anastrozole. When I came off Zoladex and had a hormone test it came back inconclusive re my menopausal status. I was 55 at the time. I then had my ovaries removed. My situation was slightly different to yours. Take care x
