I have been taking anastrozole for four years now with the side effect of hot flushes. . in the past month or two I am now getting aching legs. Can you get a side effect this late on in taking the tablets?

Aching or pain in joints or muscles can be a side effect of anastrozole, this might include aching legs, however, this usually develops soon after starting it rather than a few years after.
Aching legs can happen for different reasons, however, as you have started to experience this in the last month or two, we suggest contacting your treatment team, GP or breast care nurse and let them know. They can assess you to find out the possible cause and the best way to manage this.
You mention you have been experiencing hot flushes while on anastrozole. Hot flushes are a common side effect of this treatment. If this is something you are finding difficult to manage, you may find our information about managing hot flushes of help.
We offer a range of free supportive services which you may also be interested in. They include face to face and online courses and events.
