So I’ve been to my gp. I’ve got a return to work date on 3rd September!! Boo!! But need the money as now down to half pay!! My gp said anastrozole is by far the best type of aromatose inhibitor so I guess we should stick with it if we can!!! She suggested any side effects may wear off in time. I’m feeling much better today though so think I was just having a blip. Hope you are all well ??
Well ladies I’m a bit worried as my chemist had to give me a different brand of anastrozole today! He said they can’t get my usual ones anymore!!! He also said I need to try the new type and sed how I go because they might be the only ones available to me. Can’t see the manufacturer. They are in a blue and white pack. Guess I don’t have any option!!!
Hi, i have been taking Anastrozole for 2 years and had terrible pains in joints of arms. Someone suggested that i take Mannatech (Bounceback). I have been ordering it from America. I was told that it will take a while for tablets to kick in and roundabout 3 months into taking the tablets I decided not to take it anymore because i was not better. I stopped taking it for a week and realized how fantastic it actually is and immediately started ordering it again. I do not have any aches or pains anymore, and will use this untill i can stop taking Anastrozole ( if ever). The basis of the tablet is Tumeric.
I can recommend this to anyone. Please get back to me with any questions.
From a cold but sunny Cape Town.
Kind Regards
Wilma
Glad you found something that works for you Wilma. I take turmeric capsules everyday too!! I hope they help with any aches and pains and I’ve also heard that turmeric targets cancer cells so ??. Take care ??
Hi everyone. I have been taking Letroxole for 3 years, since my lumpectomy in 2015. I recently saw my oncologist and told him I thought my Thyroxine might need adjusting (I suffer from hypothroidism ). He suggested it was the Letrozole causing me to feel achey and “under the weather”, and changed my meds to Anastrozole. I’very been on it for just 2 weeks and I feel really poorly. I’ve had a bad cough, breathing problems, dizziness, upset tummy and headache. My lovely GP can find nothing wrong so we are assuming it must be the Anastrozole. Did anyone else feel really ill when first taking it? How long did the initial symptoms last?
Hello ladies - I am on Anastrozole only 2 .5 weeks worth of experience, but the SEs other than the nausea seem to be linked to blocking the oestrogen…
5 weeks of taking Anastrozole, thought I was doing really well only minimal side effects, slight headache hot flushes then last night I had a mother of all headaches felt sick, still feel the same today plus very tearful, trouble is don’t really know if it is side effects or not but no painkillers will touch it. has anyone found out wether taking at a different time of the day helps? I take mine in the morning. have also been prescribed Alendronic Acid to take once a week anyone had se’s from this, not taken it yet in case it makes matters worse.
Hi Fezzy. I take mine at night as taking it in the morning seemed to keep me from sleeping at night - perverse I know.
Your headache etc sound like hormal reactions to the oestrogen being flattened. Perhaps a chat with your BCN?

To Lievre on vaginal and “down there” itching. My rt breast removed and 11 nodes 12/12/14. Just got relief from itching 2 mo ago by going to a urologist. I’m not a detail person, stayed on Anastrozole for 2 years, then got on a chat room and realized my horrid bone and muscle aches were side effects. Changed to tomaxafen for a couple of weeks, quit everything for a year. I’m a vital, single, 71 year old with a 94 year old mother. Had 4 months of chemo, exhausted, but not one day of nausea due to great pharmacists. In four years have lived in 3 states due to family needs, 3 different oncologists. Back to original oncologist, special doctor, he asked that I try Anastrozole again. No depression, rare hot flashes, weird little headaches and sore throats, insomnia, wonderful crying, very cathartic. My daughter said she had changed her mind, forget quality of life, stay on pill; that said, I am willing to do 8 more years if suggested. To me Weight loss of my 50 xtra lbs., great eating habits and 10,000 steps per day with my fit bit, I will simply enjoy the excuse of exhaustion and sitting many x per hour. I walk with a beach buggy because it is the height of a grocery basket and I can carry groceries, etc. I don’t have a balance problem, have 3 problem discs, so just like having a bit of support. Urologist gave me the RX for vaginal pills 2, then another dose of 2, did not use 3rd dose. Ointment Clotrimazole, Betamethazone and Dipropionate, use when needed. No itching, heaven. Have best hair ever, to my waist, loved being bald, can go either way… feel soooo sorry for working sufferers because of exhaustion.
