Annual Mammogram and check up

Hi
I am due to have my first mammogram since my dx last year. had a lumpectomy for IDC 18mm grade 3 no lymph nodes involved. I then had 6 months FEC and 5 weeks radiotheraphy. i am now back at work full time and i am keeping really well.

Why is it then that I am terrified about this mammogram on Friday. Last year when I was diagonosed they did more tests on my right breast as they had seen something, but then said it was okay. I am now worried that something is still there.

Does anybody know what a B2 means as I heard that being mentioned when talking about my right breast. I know I am probably getting worried about nothing but the thought is always there.

Hope to hear from you all

Hi weeannie,
I think it is often an anxious time for a lot of us when our follow ups and mammograms are due. im almost 4yrs since DX but still get very nervous when my Mammo is coming up, so its only very natural that you are getting a bit nervous too. I think all the emotions of being DX comes flooding back to us when its time for our check ups. Try not to worry to much (easier said than done i know) but im sure all will be fine.

B2 means benign breast tissue, usealy fibroadenoma,

“B 1 =normal breast, B2=benign breast tissue (ie, fibroadenoma), B3=equivocal, a lesion with possible malignant potential, B4=suspicious of malignancy, B5=malignant;”

I was also DX with 2 x fibroadenomas at DX also a cyst, i wasn’t advised to have them removed as fibroadenomas are benign, though i know some people perfer to have them removed.
Good luck to you for Friday, im sure all will be fine, and am realy pleased to hear that you are keeping realy well.
All the best to you
