I have had 15/ 25 rads treatment and noticed changes in my breast on monday, compatible with radiotherapy treatment (breast now going a nice shade of pink). However, I have had pain in the sternum and underneath the scar line. There is now a palpable lump just underneath the scar. I can only describe the pain as a ‘bone pain/ bruised’ feeling. The radiologist said that she could feel it and I may be able to see the Doctor tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought it may be hardening of the breast/ scar due to Rads but now I have convinced myself that it is much worse. Any theories on this will be greatfully received.
I saw the Doctor today and she thinks that I have inflammed scar tissue brought on by the radiotherapy. They will review it again next week. Feel a bit better now.
glad your lump seems to be ok glad you posted this as I have a thickening like lump under my arm after starting rads…I did ask and they said they thought it was normal for this to happen, but i wish they would warn you before of the possible side effects

I’m on no 11 of my rads and i’ve been getting sternum pain too.The radio-ographer said it can happen especially if you re bony. My boob is lumpy too, starting to swell a bit which also can be normal apparently!

Am pleased that your lump seems to be ok. That is good news for you and a relief too I bet. Hopefully when they review next week will be the same news.
Thank you all for your replies. I wish they tell you to expect sternum pain and scar tissue thickening etc. I had convinced myself that it was sinister- amazing really as I am ‘practical, positive and looking so well’- lol! (as everyone keeps telling me)
Hi, I’m getting towards the end of my radio this week and have a red boob and lots of ink marks - I’ve had a few funny pains and aches in my other breast and along my arm, I have now convinced myself that I have cancer in my other breast! Has anyone else experienced this or can I hope that I’ve just pulled a muscle in my back !!!
Wish I was back to being my old self and normal again then I can stat worrying about something else!
