Hi. I’m 24 years old, found a lump yesterday in the shower. Freaked out and cried myself to sleep. Then I picked myself up and took myself in. The nurse says it’s about 1cm at the ten o clock position on my left breast.
She sounded like she was pretty sure it’s a cyst/blocker tear duct and assured me BC is rare at my age. I have an appointment for the 25th and I’m terrified I’m that rare case that has BC at such a young age
I’ll probably have an ultrasound and biopsy, does anyone know how long results take or will I be able to find out on the day?
I should add I felt a lump a few year back in the same place but ignored it for three weeks. Then when I went in it seemed to have gone away because she couldn’t feel it. Could it be the same thing?
I started my period on April 1st and it ended on the 4th
Hey mini mad. Thank you, I’m scared but also strangely optimistic. I feel like my referral was precaution more then any real worry that it’s cancer…but as always there is the risk that it is cancer.
Normally you would get an answer on the day at the breast clinic, if it is clear what it is on ultrasound. If you need a biopsy, then there’s a further week or 2 for the results. It is unlikely you would need a biopsy, but if you do, it does not mean it’s bc.
As you are already aware, bc is rare in someone your age & it is the least likely thing it could be.
Thank you so much Ann-m you don’t know how much your words can help. I understand that it’s unlikely, but the possibility however small. Is driving me mad
unfortunately, unhappy bunny, the mind does go into overdrive when waiting. easier said than than done!, but if you can, try to carry on as normal & distract yourself as worrying doesn’t change anything.
You’ve done all you need to for now.

I just keep imagining the worst case scenario. My life being over before it’s even begun. Difficult to carry on like normal but I have to. Colleagues and friends don’t know
hiya,
From having gone through this, a biopsy is only done if its not clear what it is from ultrasound & or mammogram. Even if a biopsy is needed it does not necessarily mean its bc. From what I’ve seen on here, mostly, especially for younger women, a biopsy is all that’s needed.
