Anxiously waiting for results

Never did I in a million years think I would be where I am today waiting on results on a biopsy to see if I have the big C word.

I found a lump in my right boob turned out to be a cyst had that drained on the same day. Had a mammogram on both boobs. Found I had breast calcifications in the left. So a double whammy for me.

I have only 11 days to wait for my results. Is it natural to be having the feeling down days on the waiting.

My mother had breast cancer at the age of 35, died on secondary cancer 2 weeks before her 41st birthday. I am now nearly 42. Never did I see this coming my way at all.

Hi Birdyintheuk - first of all, I’m sending a big hug to you and glad that you have found this lovely forum. I hope we can help you through the horrible waiting for results time. I’m so sorry to read that about your Mother, and also the fact that you are now waiting for test results. It is very very normal to be feeling as you are now, especially with the memories of your Mother. If you look on this forum you will find so many other very similar posts. I also remember that waiting time, it felt endless but it does pass.

We are here to chat with you, listen, hold your hand, whatever you need. I’m not medical so don’t want to offer medical advice - except to say that there are lots of reasons for breast changes, most are benign. As Shi (another community champion says), you don’t have cancer until someone diagnoses you - so this week try to keep yourself occupied, with whatever makes you feel good, perhaps chatting with family/friends, watching junk TV, walks. It’s time to be extra kind to yourself. You might also want to call the lovely nurses on here for further medical advice, the number is at the top of the page.

I’d really advise you to try to stay away from Dr Google, come on here instead to ask questions.

Please do use this forum to help you through this time, it’s non judgmental, you can say whatever you need to or ask whatever you want. Big hugs, keep us posted Evie xx

Hi Birdyintheuk,

Thinking of you - waiting for results is very hard, there’s no hurrying up these things. Fingers crossed you will get good news next week.

In the meantime take good care of yourself.

love

Sandpiper
